On Saturday, May 15th I was named Sigma Chi at RIT's very first Sweetheart!
Sigma Chi is a Fraternity banded together for the practice of three great aims: Friendship, Justice and Learning. Our lifelong devotion to one another and to our guiding principles have formed the strongest bonds of friendship, while our ability to hold ourselves and our peers accountable has engendered justice into our everyday lives. When men devote themselves to these to principles, he commits himself to the highest form of true learning, both about himself and about those who make up his community.
At Rochester Institute of Technology, Sigma Chi offers students an opportunity to devote themselves to these three principles for the purpose of blazing a path unique to any other experience on campus. Sigma Chi's lifelong membership emphasis gives its members unmatched business and networking opportunities, one-of-a-kind leadership programming, and a family of more than 225,000 brothers from more than 230 chapters across the United States and Canada.
Sigma Chi stresses a brotherhood of different temperaments, talents and convictions all working together in the pursuit of higher purposes.
I am elated to have been elected to serve as this role, and to work with this outstanding group of men towards becoming an official fraternity at RIT.
((As a general rule, each undergraduate chapter elects a female associated with the chapter as the chapter sweetheart. At each Grand Chapter, the fraternity chooses a Sweetheart from one chapter to be the International Sweetheart of Sigma Chi for two years. The International Sweetheart Award is presented based on personality, character, campus involvement, Sigma Chi activities, general accomplishments, poise, and grace.))
